I come from a family who originated in Michoacán, Mexico, which is a state near the center of Mexico, however, I was born and raised here in Salem, Oregon. Although I may not have been to Mexico as much as I would like, I plan to visit someday and spend time with my family members that live there.
I am a very energetic person, I enjoy a variety of things, from school, to meeting new people and learning new things. I am currently going to college, and I plan on majoring in Criminal Justice and minoring in Psychology. I come from a family who is very united, we are supportive towards one another, especially when it comes to pursuing a higher education and working towards our goals.
Aside from school, I really enjoy becoming involved with my community and enhancing my leadership skills, I have explored several programs such as speech and debate, mentoring young teens for the Boys and Girls Club, and volunteering to help others. I also enjoy playing sports, and hanging out with family and friends. Some of my favorite activities include cooking, writing, playing basketball, jogging, swimming, and hiking.

Julio Cortez |
Mr. Cortez is a supervisor and counselor at Chemeketa Community College for the College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP). I have known this person for over two years now. I was a former CAMP student my first year of college. Mr. Cortez was my counselor during that year, and I later began working as a student leader for the CAMP program. I was involved through volunteering and later on, I was hired as an Office Assistant, however my Work Study application was not awarded on time and I was laid off along with a few other student leaders. |

Maria Cruse |
Maria Cruse is a State Prosecution Attorney who was my Political Science professor and Mock Trial coach. She has been my professor/coach since my first year of college. I have known her for a year and a half now, and have been very involved with the Chemeketa Mock Trial team, dedicating many hours and traveling to different states in order to compete against other colleges and universities. Mock Trial involves learning and applying the law with critical thinking throughout the practices of speech and debate. |
