  About Me

I am a recent transplant from Maryland/DC area where I was working as Administration Coordinator for the Humane Society of the United States. While I loved working at a fulfilling job for a great cause and organization (as well as playing with office dogs. ), I have decided to relocate to Pittsburgh, a city with a unique culture that has always felt completely like home to me.
I have a degree in History from West Virginia University and I have a wide variety of experience in customers service from retail and reception positions I have previously held. I also have experience in caring for children of a range of ages as a full-time au pair for a wonderful family in Munich, Germany. I am patient, caring, and easy to talk to, all things I feel are very important when working closely with a family.

  Work Experience & Education Background

1 years experience, 5 references
I spent a full year working in Munich, Germany for a young and busy family with an 18 month old son named Jago. I cared for Jago, sometimes from when he woke until I put him to bed at night. Jago and I explored the city together, once I got over my reservations with taking him on the trains. The family was also very insistent that I teach him as much English as I could. At one point he knew a few more English words than German ones, which was great. I also got to watch him take his first steps. This moment is still one of my favorite memories.

In addition to caring for Jago, the family would occasionally split their use of me with friends of the family who had a six month old daughter named Selma and a six year old son named Benny. Caring for these two was very different to the situation with my host family. I learned a lot about balancing necessary tasks and trying to keep children with two very different sets of needs happy. Sometimes Benny would assist me and be my Robin, and other times he'd felt like being the Joker. It kept me very busy and on my toes to say the least.
