Whilst attending University, I spent three years babysitting for a lovely family, three children, in Glasgow. I minded the children regularly, usually evenings when the parents were out. I also spent two long weekends each month staying over with the children while their parents were away for the weekend. When I started working with the family the children were aged 18 months, 4 years and 7 years, the elder two were girls and the younger a boy. I loved my time working with this family, and I know ththat Dr and Mrs Rogers would have no problem in providing a reference if required. As part of my Nurse training, I spent 3 months working with a Health Visitor. Health Visitors are Nurses who visit new mothers and babies in their homes to make sure the mothers and babies are doing ok. They also continue to visit with the families as the children grow to carry out developmental checks. During my time with my Health Visitor I did several courses with the mother and babies. The classes included Infant Massage, Parenting Skills, and many group play sessions. When I graduated from University, I nursed on a respiratory care ward full time. A very large part of our time on the ward was spent working with patients and their families, helping them to find ways to live with the illness/disability. Since being in New York I have also looked after a neighbours two children several times.
