  About Me

Even as a toddler I have always loved children. I have a younger brother that is almost two years younger than myself and my family always joke about how I never left him alone. Apparently I would always try holding him or feeding him. I am from a small town in Nebraska about an hour and half North of Omaha. I moved to Omaha to go to the University of Nebraska Omaha and this is now my second year here. My goal is to get a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and I am hoping to specialize in children and then do two years at a medical school to become a physician's assistant. My parents have been divorced for about two years now and I lived with my father and younger brother until I moved to Omaha. I have been babysitting randomly since I was about twelve not including watching my brother before that. During those years I have watched over children from about six months old to around ten years old.

  Work Experience & Education Background

7 years experience, 2 references
Around twelve or thirteen I began babysitting children other than my younger brother. I have not provided child care continuously, but more sporadically during that time. When I was fifteen I worked at my friend's grandmother's daycare for a summer to make some extra money. I entertained the kids with books and games. Along with entertainment, I helped with gather the children to the for lunch or snack time and got them to their nap time spots. I have watched at the most four children at once by myself. The ages of those four kids were a newborn, two year old, and five year old, and a ten year old at the time. The summer of 2011 a six year old was dropped over at my house before her mother had to work and I watched her most of the day. During that time I took her to parks, rode bikes, went swimming, shopped and various other activities. I did other random fill in babysitting jobs when I was needed.

The summer of 2011 I watched her daughter Allie of six/seven years old almost every weekday. I have known her for over a year now. They live in my hometown and that is where I watched her. I stopped watching her daughter when I moved to Omaha for school, and Allie began school again.

When I was about twelve I began volunteering each year around the holiday season at Toys for Tots in Sioux City, Iowa. Bob is the main coordinator for the foundation. I still volunteer each year, so it is a long term engagement.
