I have an abundance of formal and informal experience with children.
Formally: I have been trained by the International Network for Children and Families (INCAF), and with that training I taught parenting classes to parents and classroom management to teachers in St. Louis. All of this training was based on the psychology of Alfred Adler, and it is a very democratic model that is very respectful to children and parents. I have been trained in CPR and first aid. I have had multiple background checks in the past for positions where I would be around children (i. e. camp councilor, retreat team leader, substitute teacher, sports coach, and nanny), and would encourage families to check my references and administer their own check.
Informally: I am the second oldest of five children, and the first girl. My youngest sister just turned 10 in April. Family is very important to me. I have a 20 month old daughter, and she is the reason I have decided to use my experience as a nanny. She is wonderful, and I nanny with her. Additionally, I have been in the care of children for 14 years in the more informal capacity as a "babysitter". I am still in contact with these families today.
