I grew up in Bloomfield, NJ, with one younger sister. I remember how much fun it is to be a kid, and how important it is to enjoy everything you do, even if it's educational or uninteresting. Keeping this in mind, I really try to make everything an activity, song, or event so that important things get done and nothing is a daunting chore. I really enjoy sports/activities, being outside, etc. The Yankees are a big part of my life. I love to read and write, travel, great conversation (which most children provide for me. ha ha), and relaxing just as well.
I have worked for a childcare placement agency in Boston for a year; I have worked at a Christian sleep away summer camp for 4 summers, tending to MANY children at one time; I have baby-sat at home for whoever needed me.
I enjoy children beyond explanation. They are extremely fun, and great times are always had. Being young is wonderful and they should enjoy this time of exploring and learning. I remember how much fun it is to be a kid, and how important it is to enjoy everything you do, even if it's educational or uninteresting. Keeping this in mind, I really try to make everything an activity, song, or event so that important things get done and nothing is a daunting chore. In terms of discipline, which is important for parents to know, sometimes time-outs are necessary, or the notion of taking away a fun activity/toy/game, but otherwise communication is always open to the point where the children have no need to be disciplined. Bargains are made, stern talking-to's are given. I feel it's very important to talk to the child[ren] to get to the root of matters, and fix the situation from there. Obviously, there is never, EVER physical contact, rudeness on the sitter's part, or anything of that sort. |

Work Experience & Education Background |
|
| |
| 3 years experience, 4 references |
I grew up in Bloomfield, NJ, with one younger sister. At age 12, being the oldest kid on the block, I began baby-sitting for some friends of the family on weekends and at night. Eventually I became a steady baby-sitter for most families in the area. I have baby-sat in the nursery at church, as well, and for many church families. I was a camp counselor for a Presbyterian sleep away camp for 4 summers, up until last summer. I attended Northeastern University in Boston, where I became a temporary childcare provider for the agency Parents In A Pinch. I now attend NYU, so I am in the NY area, ready and willing to work. I have all the time in the world available to work as well, seeing as how I am out of school for the summer. **PS: I was previously CPR certified, and my certification ran out, so fear not, I DO know what I am doing. :)
