The schedule of an infant still amazes me in how accurate their internal clock is. I know what to expect and when and take notes of what the baby does. I like to keep a journal to share with the parents so they know how the baby did that day. What I found most rewarding is watching the baby complete different developmental milestones. I babysat both families for years and was able to watch the children grow…. learn to walk, talk, etc. It was amazing. What I find most challenging is that sometimes the baby would get sick, and, while on antibiotics, the baby would still be uncomfortable and cry and I just felt helpless and unable to soothe the child. That was hard. The rewarding parts of infant care outweigh the challenges, though. It is fun to watch a child grow and laugh; it is very fulfilling. I have always been a very involved babysitter.
