My name is Kristen D. and I am 27 years old. I am from Cincinnati and moved to NYC after graduating with a BFA in Interior Design. I also have a BBA in Marketing. I love children and always enjoyed babysitting. Taking care of children is a very inspirational experience and something I value. Just being with children gives one a renewed sense of purpose and life. As with anything I do, I will bring joy, enthusiasm, and love to this position as your nanny. I am currently designing furniture for my own company in the future. I would love to be your nanny and have a wonderful day with your children, and then come home and design. Starting a business is a long process requiring a lot of work over a long period of time. I would love the opportunity to make a difference in your home and give your children a valuable nanny experience that will not end abruptly or anytime soon. My portfolio website is www. KristenD.. com, if you would like to learn about me as a designer.
I have always been a very involved babysitter. It is very important to me to contribute to a child’s growth. I am an excellent cook and enjoy time in the kitchen with the kids as well. I encourage time with friends and will gladly set up play dates and any other activities building camaraderie. I value education and will help with homework. I believe being a nanny is unique experience for both the care giver and child. I will encourage learning and helping the child developmentally. With an art background, I of course will bring various art activities to nurture the child’s creative side. It is very important to me that the child has a great experience and I will do everything I can to ensure that. I am open to any suggestions from parents and am quick to learn and have discussions. I will give a nanny position everything I have and will be dedicated, joyful, enthusiastic, energetic, and willing to help the child any way that I can. |

Work Experience & Education Background |

I babysat for two families with infants and found the experience very valuable in that I was able to learn a lot about infant care. The schedule of an infant still amazes me in how accurate their internal clock is. I know what to expect and when and take notes of what the baby does. I like to keep a journal to share with the parents so they know how the baby did that day. What I found most rewarding is watching the baby complete different developmental milestones. I babysat both families for years and was able to watch the children grow…. learn to walk, talk, etc. It was amazing. What I find most challenging is that sometimes the baby would get sick, and, while on antibiotics, the baby would still be uncomfortable and cry and I just felt helpless and unable to soothe the child. That was hard. The rewarding parts of infant care outweigh the challenges, though. It is fun to watch a child grow and laugh; it is very fulfilling.
I have always been a very involved babysitter. I have experience with 5 families with age ranges from infant-13. Additional Experiences/Qualifications/Preferences: |
I am very responsible and truly enjoy childcare. Throughout my college career, I was involved in many activities and held leadership positions in all of them. While I will be pursuing furniture design on the side, it will be on my own time and will in no way interfere with my nanny experience. I am motivated and enthusiastic and willing to do anything I can to provide as much help as I can to the children and family in general. |
