I am the youngest of five children, which gave me plenty of babysitting experience because I have 11 nieces and nephews. I have worked in schools in both the US and Haiti (where I was a teacher and volunteer for several years) and now work a full time job in Evanston, IL as an Education and Basic Literacy Manager. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science and a Master's Degree in Public Service Management. Although I am working full time, I am looking for some regular babysitting positions in the evenings and on the weekends while my husband is at work. I have a 2013 Toyota Rav4 and am willing to use it for babysitting jobs. Of course, I will take care of my own transportation to and from the home. Ideally, I would like to meet with the family before I come to babysit for the first time. I am happy to babysit newborns through teenagers. I have worked with children of all ages and am comfortable with them. I am a Mandatory Reporter and have done several trainings and courses on Child Protection throughout my years in education. A child's comfort and safety are the most important things to me. I love being outside, going for walks, playing sports, and doing art projects. I am compassionate, patient and love to laugh. As a Chicago native, I am very familiar with the city and suburbs. |

Work Experience & Education Background |
9 years experience, 3 references |
I taught and ran childcare programs for children in Haiti for two years through a program where I was a full-time volunteer. We spent time working with neighborhood children who were out-of-school and did tutoring so that the children would have a safe place to learn. During my time in Haiti, I also regularly volunteered at an orphanage for sick and abandoned babies. After my first two years in Haiti, I returned to Chicago to pursue my Master's degree. While working on my degree, I was the Director of Marketing and Enrollment at a Catholic School in the Logan Square neighborhood. In my tenure at the school, I oversaw after school programs, a mom and tots playgroup and helped to host school parties and events. Once I was finished with my Master's degree, I returned to Haiti in 2010 after the earthquake and worked as an education manager for a large, well-known non-profit organization. I enjoyed working with children as both a teacher and school administrator. In addition to my work experience, I also work as a reading tutor two days a week. On a personal note, I am the aunt to 11 nieces and nephews and have helped care for them since the days they were born. (Literally, my sisters would call me on the first night they came home and I would be there at 5am the next day so they could sleep. ) |
