  About Me

I am a fun loving southern girl from Columbia, South Carolina. When I was a child, I was taught that manners are paramount, always holding doors and saying "yes ma'am" and "please. " Nature was a wonderful and mysterious part of life, and something as simple as a pebble or a leaf can expand a young mind exponentially. I was taught how to work in a garden and to care for animals, careful to respect and not interfere with some. I learned to have an open and grateful heart, to consider how everyone suffers and to try to ease that where I could. I also have a great appreciation for the theraputic benefits of reading and writing thanks to my mother, who was a nurse and loved to write inspirational messages.

I have a big imagination and a calm personality that children are often attracted to. I am stern and consistent, but I never yell. I believe that a little loving kindness goes a long way, and have a profound understanding of ego attachments in relation to behavior. I believe that it's possible to teach a child respect by teaching them to be more helpful than hurtful. I also am able to put my ego aside while clearly and objectively looking at other people, seeking compassionate problem solving methods. I believe that everyone is talented in their own way, and I enjoy seeking to illuminate that talent, especially where it is often overlooked.

In my free time, I am mostly a home body. I have a passion for cooking healthful and delicious foods, and am eager to trade recipes or try new things when given the opportunity. I love to blog, go for long walks and visit historical sites or museums. I also love to spend time with famiy, and am engaged to be married this fall.

I would love to meet you and get to know you better. Everyone has their match, and who knows, we could be a perfect fit.

  Work Experience & Education Background

10 years experience, 5 references
I have never been employed as a nanny, however I have been caring for children for as long as I can remember. I believe that as long as you are patient, kind and have structure it is really a matter of learning an individual child's needs and aptitudes to succeed. I am always eager to learn, yet I have the confidence that a child needs to feel safe and free to explore his world.

This is the owner of the restaurant where I managed daily operations for over two years. I also consider him a dear friend and although he does not have children, we both interacted with children from the community on a daily basis. Some of the parents still send me pictures and updates, as I became very close with their children.
