  About Me

I am a 24 year old woman currently living in my hometown in Connecticut. I have lived here for my entire life and graduated last May 2012 from the University of Connecticut. I received a Bachelor's degree in Human Development Family Studies. For the past three years I have been waitressing part time. Most recently, in January, I started a new job with a behavioral health and development service providing care for a sixteen year old-boy diagnosed on the autism spectrum. Through the job, I was taught about the autism disorder and received intensive training and several certifications. While I do enjoy this job very much, and have learned so much about the young boy and his family, and learning that children with special needs are indeed special, I have decided to go back to school to obtain my Master's degree. I am very close to my family, currently living with my parents and my younger sister and brother. I am the middle child of five siblings. We are a very tight knit family. For the past three months, I also babysit my 6-month old nephew weekly (first in the family. ) who I absolutely adore.
At this time in my life, I feel this is the best time for me to really get out there and see the world. I decided to apply to South University in West Palm Beach for the Master's Program in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and will be attending classes there starting in October. I decided to further my education out of state because I would like to meet new people and learn more about myself outside of my comfort zone. I have visited Florida several times and I always fell in love with the state.
I will be in school for at least the next two years and I am interesting in nannying for a loving, warm family. I am very educated and feel that I have a lot to offer to a child.
