I am a certified paramedic with over 10 years if experience. I watch my niece (8) and nephews (3 & 5) all the time. I am always taking them on adventures whether it be to the park or museums and everything in between. We are always doing some sort of activity. I help with homework, drop-off & pick-up from school, bathing, meals, and light housework. I do NOT yell at the children or use any type of physical punishment. I will talk to them and let them know what they did wrong and why it was wrong. Usually punishment is to sit in corner ( for younger boys) or to sit at kitchen reading a book ( for the older girl). I will make them apologize. I am really big on manners (please & thank you). My niece is very smart and well above her grade level. My 2 nephews are slightly delayed. I help as much as I can with teaching them. We are constantly doing counting and ABC's. Whenever they have a problem, I ask them to tell me what is wrong so I can try to find a way to help them solve it. I don't tolerate physical fighting or yelling at each other. We always are playing and they love when I come over. I love those kids and spend as much time as I can with them. We even have sleepovers. We play games and build forts to sleep in. They feel comfortable to tell me anything and often their parents ask for me to find out what is going on if they are showing signs of issues. I enjoy watching other children and often have their friends from school over for play dates. Their neighbors even ask if I can watch their kids from time to time when I am not with them.
Currently I do not work. I had to stop being an active paramedic due to an injury. I am still current on my license and went back to school to become a certified pharmacy technician. I do plan on going to pharmacy school eventually.
I have no problem with pets. I do not mind having to stay late or even spending the night. I have my own car that is reliable. I have a current background check in Illinois and Indiana. ( I needed it to get my pharmacy technician license. ). I am willing to share that if asked.
I live with my mother and my disabled brother. I am responsible for taking care of my brother when needed, (i. e. doctor appointments, handling his disability checks). He has brain damage from a car accident 7 years ago. He is independent, but needs help with certain things. |
