  About Me

Hello.
My name is Catherine W., and I would love the opportunity to care for your child(ren). I am newer to the area but don't let that fool you. I have a strong passion for children and have been working with them for almost eight years. I have worked with children as young at six weeks and tutored children as old as 17 years of age. I have worked one on one with children; babysitting, nannying, tutoring and I have also worked in a childcare setting. I am currently in school for early childhood education and business administration with a goal of opening a learning based childcare center. I have a very bubbly outgoing personality, I am very flexible and I love to learn new things. I love hands on activities, art projects, being outdoors and reading. I am CPR, first aid and AED certified by the Red Cross in the state of Michigan. I do have my own means of transportation as well. I have reference letters from previous families if you are interested in copies. Hopefully I can be the perfect fit for you and your family. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Most appreciated,
Catherine W.

  Work Experience & Education Background

7 years experience, 3 references
I have a strong passion for children and have been working with them for almost eight years. I have worked with children as young at six weeks and tutored children as old as 17 years of age. I have worked one on one with children; babysitting, nannying, tutoring and I have also worked in a childcare setting. I have worked with a small handful of children with autism and know how to adjust accordingly for the child's needs. I discipline using "time outs" and I know some basic sign language for younger children. I love hands on activities, art projects, being outdoors and reading. I think art and reading are two of the most important tools to teach young children. Not only do they learn new things, but they use their imagination and creativity to help shape who they are going to be. Manners are a big priority as well. I have a very bubbly outgoing personality, I am very flexible and I love to learn new things. I am currently in school for early childhood education and business administration with a goal of opening a learning based childcare center.

Reference letter from Danielle R, Maybury Childcare. Reason for termination: Moved out of state. To Whom It May Concern, Catherine has been employed at Maybury for almost two years. In that time, I have come to know her as a kind, caring individual. She comes to work every day with a smile on her face. She is always energetic and eager to help in any way she can. Catherine is the ideal employee for any employer because she does her job each and every day to the best of her ability. She is absolutely wonderful with the children and has formed a strong bond with her students. I have seen her work with every age group from infants to school age and she adapts quickly and gets the children to respond to her immediately. I am completely comfortable when Catherine is working in the classroom. I know without hesitation that things will be done right. She does not cut corners; she does what is asked of her and then some. Catherine possesses a kind of “with-it-ness” that cannot be taught but is extremely valuable in the workplace. She sees that things need to be done and she gets them done. She notices if a child is doing something that could cause them harm and she takes immediate steps to stop it from happening. She uses her common sense to make decisions quickly. Her talents and positive characteristics don’t just end with the children. She has taken it upon herself to come early and stay late to improve the building. She makes bulletin boards, paints posters and makes the classrooms so much more welcoming and inviting. She is very valuable here and will be greatly missed. I can say without hesitation that she would make an excellent contribution to any work environment. Reference letter from the Steinkamp family. Reason for termination: Moved out of state. To whom it may concern, We are writing this letter to recommend Catherine W. for any position where she would be responsible for caring for children. Any employer would be hard-pressed to find a better employee than Catherine. In the year that we have known Catherine, she has become part of our family. Attending family functions and going on local outings with us and she is wonderful company. Catherine began watching our three children; Logan (3), Paige (3), and Averi (1) at the local daycare where she was employed. It did not take long for us to see that she was a favorite with all of our children there. She was always alert to both their general care needs (eating, temperament, health) as well as their social and emotional growth (new milestones reached, favorite activities, coordinating home and daycare implementation of tasks). With how impressed we were with her we asked her to begin watching our children at our house as events came up on nights and weekends. While watching our children at our home Catherine always arrived on time or early. Our children were always ecstatic to see her and were never upset when we left. During her time at the house she always would keep them engaged with special art projects, games and outdoor play. When we would arrive at home at the end of the evening Catherine always had things cleaned up better than when we left it. If there were any special instructions she always followed them to the letter. The biggest sign of her success would be when we spoke to our children after she babysat for them. They happily would tell about all of the fun things they did which was further affirmation of what a great job she had done. Of Catherine's many strengths, her greatest is her true interest in working with children and establishing what is best for them. With our 3 children being so young and so close in age they can definitely be a lot to manage at times. Catherine always was prepared with age appropriate activities and the flexibility to manage them under an ever changing environment. She always balances the needs of the group with the specific needs of each child to make sure everyone is happily engaged in the current task. Catherine is also extremely responsible. Her common sense approach to dealing with situations as they come up has left us both with the highest confidence in her ability to safely care for our children both in our home and at different local activities. She always conducts herself professionally, respects confidentiality, and is able to connect with children of all ages. I believe that our daughter Paige said it best when she told us "Ms. Catherine is not our babysitter, she is our family. " We are so sad to be losing Catherine but certainly understand her move to continue to pursue her career path in child education and care. After all, her determination to continue to improve and grow in her knowledge is part of the reason we love her so much in the first place. She is irreplaceable, and I sincerely hope she is able to obtain whatever position she is applying for. Her reliable, caring, attentive and engaging personal traits would make her an asset to any employer. Please do not hesitate to contact us by phone or email if you would like any additional information. We are happy to share how wonderful Catherine is. I am confident you could not find a better employee. Sincerely, Kurt & Melissa Steinkamp
