I attended undergraduate school in Rochester, NY from 1999-2003 and received a bachelor's degree in English with a concentration in Elementary Education, Pre-K-6th grade. While I was attending graduate school for my special education degree from 2004-2006, I was a substitute teacher in both urban and suburban school districts. I substituted for grades Pre-K-5 in both general and special education classrooms. In October of 2006 I was hired by Action for a Better Community as a full-day preschool teacher teaching both general and special education children. When my husband and I were expecting our first child in the fall of 2009, my focus turned towards having a successful pregnancy and birth. I took a leave from teaching in January of 2010 and became a nanny for school age children. In July of 2010, our daughter was born. I continued to nanny in order to be with my daughter and to use my teaching expertise on a daily basis. I have cared for many children between the ages of 2 months to 12 years. I helped them with their homework and came up with games and fun activities all while encouraging social and expressive skills. When my husband was offered a new job in Atlanta, GA in July of 2011 we relocated. I continued working as a nanny for children ages 2 months to 11 years, some with special needs and was hired by several families in Atlanta who were accepting of my daughter. Additionally, I have experience picking children up from school and driving them to and from extracurricular activities, preparing and serving nutritious meals, bathing and bedtime routines, and assisting with common household chores such as laundry, dishes and caring for pets. We have since moved to Tallahassee, FL where my husband was offered a great job opportunity. I am currently looking to work with children either on a part-time basis or full-time basis. I am dedicated to working with children and providing them the best care possible. I take all of my work with children very seriously. I have a desire to help children think, reason, and solve problems in our world so they can be successful as they go through life. I am a warm and compassionate person that has a strong passion for working with children and it shows. I truly love kids. I come up with creative solutions to problems and work to provide the best possible care for children. I take initiative when problems or challenges arise and I collaborate with parents to find solutions to problems. I also have experience watching several children at once and working with special needs children. I enjoy working with families and watching how children develop and grow both academically and socially. I have built a good reputation and have developed a close and honest relationship with the families I work for. I am hardworking, extremely flexible, fun, creative and trustworthy and I have several current references available as well as an up-to-date background check. |
