  About Me

I am a 23 year college graduate living in Chicago, hoping to find a great family to nanny with. I graduated from Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida in 2012 with degrees in environmental studies and political science. I love working with kids, and hope to go back to graduate school part-time in the city to get my masters in social work, so that I can be an advocate for vulnerable children in Chicago. I have a genuine love for life, and have been told that my energy and enthusiasm for it is very contagious. I love nature and spending time outside, cooking, reading, and am very creatively oriented. Whether its making crafts out of recycled materials, singing and tap dancing, or just making up stories, I really enjoy inspiring the creativity in kids. My personality is one of a very patient, compassionate, and calm demeanor. I am not a fan of conflict, so I find myself often making an effort to help others compromise in the midst of conflict, and using creativity to solve problems. I believe in the importance of children having positive role models, and would love to be a meaningful and positive presence for your children to look to.

  Work Experience & Education Background

3 years experience, 3 references
I most recently worked as an environmental educator with Penn State's environmental center, where I led educational programs for children in pre-school-8th grade. Through these different programs, I gained experience in group management, conflict resolution, first aid scenarios, relating to different learning styles, and flexibility. I was a lead counselor for our nature center's summer camps that hosted children ages 3-12, a learning group leader for a residential outdoor education program for fifth graders, and facilitated visiting school group programs on hiking trails for grades K-3. In addition, I have been a babysitter on numerous occasions for co-workers and family friends.

Childcare experience within the following age groups:
2 - 5 years, 5 - 10 years, over 10 years of age
Education/Training:
High School, Graduated High School or Equivalent, College, Bachelor's Degree, CPR Training, First Aid Training, Certified Interpretive Guide, Childline Mandated Reporter
I attended Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida from 2008-2012. I graduated with two degrees, a B. A. in environmental studies and a B. A. in political science. I also minored in biology. While attending Eckerd, I was an active member in our homeless outreach club, recycling club, spring break service trips, disaster relief fundraising events, freshmen orientation mentor program, and wakeboarding events. My school was very small, about 1500 students total, so it helped me gain a sincere appreciation for the concept of community connection.
