  About Me

I am a very laid back person as I mentioned above and I am a very reliable, kind, outgoing person who loves her coffee in the morning. I will be moving out to Chicago June 10th where my boyfriend and I just got an apartment together. I hope to one day work with those w/ speech impediments in a hospital setting, but for now I enjoy nannying :) I am energetic (not overly), flexible w/ my schedule and anything in general, and love being outdoors and have a passion for helping people. I could go on and on but I do not want to make anyone read a book about me :) I am open to answering any questions you may have. I am a very laid back person who loves children and I have gained great experience from the family I have sat for.
The family I babysit for now here in Michigan have showed me many ways to be patient and how to be assertive with young ones as everyone needs a lesson here or there. I enjoy playing games with children, but at the same time work on their development (e. g. teaching animals and their noises, colors, etc). I try to intermix fun w/ learning without the children really knowing that I am doing so. I do not yell at the children I work w/, but if they are misbehaving, I am assertive in the right way with making sure they are cooperative. Overall, I really enjoy working with children and people in general and I plan on doing so for the remainder of my working career.

  Work Experience & Education Background

10 years experience, 3 references
I will be leaving the family behing that I have been babysitting for the past 5 months and I am sad to do so. I babysit an 8month old (watched her grow since she was 3 months old), a 2 year old and a 4 year old. I am a very laid back person who loves children and I have gained great experience from the family I have sat for. I also work at an aftercare program here in Michigan where I am a teacher aid to children in kindergarten to the 6th grade where we usually care for about 20 children at a time. As I mentioned before, I love working with children and hope to do so once I get my master's degree in Speech Pathology.
For the past 10 years I have pretty much raised my 2 younger brothers from the time they were in diapers as my parents put my brother and I in charge. Although this is not a real "nanny" job, I gained a huge amount of experience just from that alone (including cleaning, cooking, etc)

Childcare experience within the following age groups:
Newborn - 3 months, 3 - 12 months, 1 - 2 years, 2 - 5 years, 5 - 10 years, over 10 years of age, special needs children

Bachelor's Degree, College Child Education Courses, First Aid Training, CPR Training
I just graduated from Michigan State University where I got a B. A. in Communication Sciences & Disorders. I plan on getting a degree in Deaf Ed. starting this fall and next fall I plan on attending grad school to work on getting a Master's degree in Speech Pathology (crossing my fingers that I get into a good university here in Chicago. )
