  About Me

Good Day.

I wanted to offer to help with the care of your children. I strongly believe that the type of education, training, and life experiences I have will allow me to make a great Nanny.

Educationally: I have a BS in Psychology with a minor in Sociology, an MA in Interdisciplinary Studies, and an MA in Mental Health Counseling. Since leaving school, I have had on going training in the field of counseling. Currently, I am working as a independently licensed therapist in an inpatient unit for children with a variety of developmental delays, particularly autism. I am very familiar with interacting with children and have raised a daughter of my own (now 17 and a senior in high school). I enjoy working with children and am starting to transition from my career as a therapist, to that of a sitter/nanny.

I would love the opportunity to help support you and your family through childcare, housework, errands, and/or cooking/baking. I am a structured organized thinker, while also capable of being flexible and spontaneous. I am prepared to engage with your children in ways that encourage and support them developmentally, intellectually, and creatively. and equally important, are fun. I feel very confident in my ability to create a loving, secure, nurturing, stimulating, and healthy environment.

I wanted to share with you some of my interests to explore any possible overlap. I love arts and crafts. I am an avid beader and engage in a number of other crafty pursuits. I have many outdoor hobbies; hiking, swimming, rock climbing, caving, kayaking, SCUBA, and camping. Reading has always been a big part of my life. I used to read to my daughter every night and we still read together on occasion. I enjoy exploring all the world has to offer and particularly find biology fascinating. Cooking and baking can be really fun as well. Being healthy is important to me. I a not a preacher of health, but I want to live my life to my best ability and always grow as a person.

I have a NM License, am CPR/first aid certified, and can supply my resume if desired. I know that picking who cares for your children is a really important decision and I would be happy to answer any questions you might have.

Thank you for considering this offer and for taking the time to read this message. I greatly appreciate it.

Thanks.
Skye Norton

I am a licensed mental health and substance abuse counselor specializing in experiential therapy interventions. Having the opportunity to work with some very special needs individuals and in some intense inpatient facilities has brought a great sense of purpose and fulfillment to my life. I have been blessed with the opportunity to touch so many lives and be a part of something greater than myself. I have been thinking for a few years now that I would like to work as a nanny. By working as a nanny, it is my hope that I will have the chance to participate in offering a service of benefit to a family that is offering a nurturing loving environment for their children and might possibly also benefit from the knowledge, skills, and experience I have developed during my career as a therapist. It is not my intent to work as a therapist in the home and I am aware of the need to maintain professional boundaries. I have experience working with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Developmental Delays, Neurobehavioral Challenges and Neurodevelopmental Disorders, RAD, FASD and other substance effected children, disruptive behavior disorder, depression, anxiety, and other common childhood disorders. Upon request, I can supply my professional resume.
