  About Me

I am a fun loving, patient, and caring mom that loves being surrouded by children. I love being a mom and it suits me. I have previously helped my sister raise her children and run her home, and now that she has the reigns again I find my days full of less laughter and little feet. My one year old daughter keeps me on my toes, but we really do better in a small crowd. I have so much love to give, and really believe in nurturing a child and giving them the quality time they deserve. I believe in a fun, healthy, educational, and loving environment. I want the children to be happy, active, and always involved in something beneficial to them overall. I enjoy outside play, reading, teaching, and bringing in new experiences like petting zoos or baking. I believe in consistent but light discipline like changing your tone when speaking to them and using time outs.

  Work Experience & Education Background

3 years experience, 1 references
Hi, my name is Sara. I have previously worked for my sister and her three children. My niece was born with complications in early 2006 that required her to be hospitalized in the NICU/ICU for most of her first year. This required my sister and her husband to be at the hospital and left my two nephews and their home to be cared for. I stepped in taking my oldest newphew to school, doing laundry, cleaning the home, cooking meals, planning activities for them, doing homework, and taking care of their needs like bathing and getting dressed. Occassionally my niece would get to come home briefly and I would be more like a Mother's Helper, aiding my sister in the daily routine, but would take over when she would be consumed with my niece's health. I was briefly taught how to perform CPR, what to do if someone is choking, not breathing, etc. and also briefly trained on how to operate her heart and breathing monitors. (This is aside from my high school course on CPR, etc) After about the first year, my niece came home and I was a full time Mother's Helper. Often my sister needed help in errands, cleaning, and getting the children to their activities since it was hard with my niece.

In earlier years, I have experience as a volunteer tutor and teacher's aid when I was in school working with both students and children with learning disabilities. I put on plays, taught children to count and read, supervised, and was involved in the children's daily routines. Since then my experience has proved beneficial since my oldest nephew has been found to have a speech disorder and in need of regular therapy and assistance. My patience, skills and techniques, and compassion have truly come in handy over the years as we have helped him and encouraged him to develop his skills.

In January of 2007 I had my own baby girl, that is now one year old. As a mother I have learned first hand how to care for a newborn child on up, and have been told I have a great parenting style. I simply love to be a mom and it suits me. I believe in a safe, healthy, loving, and educational environment for children. Most of my daughter's toys have some educational value to them, we sing and dance often, and I read about 3-4 times a day. I enjoy outside play as well, going for walks, to the park, doing playgroups, going to the zoo, etc. I love keeping her busy and entertained.

Childcare experience within the following age groups:
Newborn - 3 months, 3 - 12 months, 1 - 2 years, 2 - 5 years, 5 - 10 years, special needs children
Education/Training:
Graduated High School or Equivalent, College, First Aid Training, CPR Training
I graduated high school in 2005 with college credit and honors acknowledgements. Throughout my high school experience I took honors and excelled classes. My high school offered college-accredited classes that brought college level classes into the classroom for advanced students to allow them the opportunity to gain college credit early. I took quite a few of these classes and all together graduated with a 3. 76 GPA and with the credit would go into my junior year at a college. As for my CPR and First Aid Training, as posted earlier I had a course in high school that went over basic procedures, and I was briefly trained again shortly after my niece was born.
