  About Me

I am an elementary school teacher newly returned from a six-month contract at a preschool start-up in Jakarta, Indonesia. I have taught both in Chicago and internationally over the past three years, and I also have extensive nanny experience in Chicago. I immensely enjoy the opportunity to be a part of a child's discovery of his/her world, and to teach children in a playful and engaging manner. I am an avid book worm and runner, and I similarly enjoy helping children to enjoy books and outdoor activities. I also enjoy playing guitar, piano, and learning languages.

  Work Experience & Education Background

1 years experience, 2 references
During my time in college I taught part time at a very diverse preschool where I initiated a successful sign language program as well as other changes to the curriculum. I cared full time for a young toddler in the city for one year, during which I developed a strong relationship with both the child and his family.
Afterwards, I traveled to Indonesia where I taught first and third grade at an international school located in Bandung, Indonesia. I immensely enjoyed this time and the opportunity to practice inquiry-based, student-centered education techniques in the classroom. I then travelled to Costa Rica where I taught first grade to a classroom of ESL students, during this time I was able to utilise and improve my Spanish.
Most recently, I travelled back to Jakarta, Indonesia to coordinate and lead the educational curriculum at a preschool start-up. I provided weekly training and development workshops for the teachers, communicated with school parents, taught weekly music classes to the students, and performed various administrative tasks for the preschool.
