My name is Amy and I am just about to graduate from Illinois State University with a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Elementary Education. I am 22 years old and am seeking a part-time nanny position. My educational background makes me highly qualified for almost any position. I desire to help parents teach their children to grow intellectually, creatively, emotionally, and socially. Consequently, I will plan and execute a variety of educational and fun activities and "excursions. " I believe that learning and development occur when a child is most active and engaged.
I am warm, loving, hard-working and dependable. I have extensive experience working with children and knowledge about their psychology and development. I know that I would be a great asset and help to your family. To begin, I will say that I will never engage in any kind of physical punishment. I do not believe in spanking and will not work for a family who engages in this method of behavior management.
I believe that while other types of non-physical punishment can work, both positive and negative reinforcements are much more effective behavior management strategies. Using simple and inexpensive motivational tools like stickers and being given the role of "special helper" can make huge differences in child behavior.
Children are just as human as adults and deserve to have their respect and dignity maintained. I believe many behavior problems are the result of inadequate instruction and practice in appropriate behaviors. With proper instruction and practice, I believe all children can learn self-control, kindness, and appropriate behavior. |

Work Experience & Education Background |

| 4 years experience, 5 references |
This May, I will graduate from Illinois State University with a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Elementary Education. I have spent the past year in Chicago schools as an intern in a 4th grade and a Kindergarten classroom, planning and teaching lessons, implementing the classroom management plan, and performing all other regular teaching duties. My university coursework over the last four years has consisted of tutoring a 1st grade girl in Literacy, as well as hundreds of hours of clinical experiences and observations.
Last summer, I co-led a small group of 1st grade students in Sunday School for Crossroads Community Church.
During my time at ISU, I baby-sat regularly for two families. The Harts had energetic Luca (age 2 at the time) and sweet Gia (turning 1 soon. ). The Klunkes had smart, funny Gillian (age 4 at the time) and shy Natalie (age 2 at the time).
Several summers ago I was a nanny for two families. Ellie was 2 1/2 and Emy and Eva were 2 and 1, respectively.
Other work experience I have had has reflected my other passions: learning and health. I worked for a year at a book store and as an aerobics instructor at the Student Recreation Center on my college's campus. |
