I have been taking care of children since I was 11. I was old enough and mature enough that my mother had me regularly watch her. This progressed to moments in Girl Scouts where we held events and nights where anyone with a child can drop them off and we could watch them to give parents a night off. At the age of 16 years old, I had my own babysitting business while I was home schooled. I took care of four children alone from the age of 5 months to 4 years. This went on for 2 years until the time I went away for school. During that time, I have taken care of neighboring children from time to time. I understand that parents need help. Children can be a handful and it takes a village to raise a child.
As an artistic, open minded, and self taught person, I am always open to new things. I encourage everyone around me that we should try to learn something new everyday. I learn from books and trying. I taught myself how to paint, draw, write short stories to novels, create websites from scratch, sewing, photography, and much more. I enjoy teaching children the things I have learned so they could learn, experience, and maybe even love them.
Writing is my biggest passion. I sadly didn't go to high school, but everything I know I taught myself. I aspire to be a published author. Fame has nothing to do with why I want to be a published author, but the joy I will get for seeing someone pick up my book and dive right into the worlds I create. I believe the written word is the best creation man has ever invented. It's beautiful as well as ugly and safe as well as dangerous. It can take a person from their reality to a world nothing like their own. There is a game I play with my friends who also love writing stories. We start off with a simple Once Upon a Time and continue on adding sentences from each of us until we come up with a fresh out of this world creation. I also teach this to children. The children I took care of recently experienced this game. We actually came up with a story where a princess risked her life to break a curse that put a knight into a dark slumber beneath a forever frozen lake. It was rather amazing to hear it. |

I have been taking care of children over the last 10 years off and on. My breaks were both personal and school related. I am very calm when it comes to emergencies and I have taken care of some kids who take after their much clumsy parents. Oh, all the band-aids, bumps, and bruises to take care of. Now, I don't have the many years that some nanny's would have. I have mainly been the babysitter up to about a year and a half ago.
My last employment, I nannied for a military family that was based in Savannah, Ga. I watched their children almost 24/7 give or take a day or two that dad or mom didn't have to work. I watched the children while they were out of town or had emergencies. It is my job to take care of the children and I am there for the children.
How I provide care for any child is rather hands on. I cook all three meals and snacks in between. At dinner time, I normally cook for the entire family depending on if the parent will be returning home between 5:30 and 6:30. There will always be a fruit with breakfast and lunch as well as a vegetable for dinner. If the child is a child who doesn't eat vegetable, I do have ways to trick them into eating them. Most of the time they won't even know it's there.
I get the children changed each morning and if it gets called for it, after they get really dirty.
