  About Me

I am a mature, confident, independent and experienced person who adores babies and children. I have recently completed a Level 3 Advanced Diploma for the Children and Young People’s Workforce (English qualification). I have gained experience working full time with children aged 0–4 in a nursery/day care setting for 3+ years. This qualification gives me the knowledge and skills needed when working with children and young people and covers a diverse range of areas relating to child study, such as early learning and childcare, children’s social care, learning, development and support services.

As member of staff within a setting I assisted with organizing and participating in fun, stimulating, challenging and educational activities to motivate babies, children and imaginatively use resources to help them learn in a safe and secure environment. I am able to use my own initiative to effectively work as part of a team. I am able to communicate, listen and interact with babies and children of all ages and have an understanding of the children’s needs and realise the importance to have a positive attitude and be a responsible role model. I assisted children and their parents with developing toilet training and maintaining sleep schedules.

I have acted as a participant in the key person system and I have been a familiar figure for three children to give them the comfort, security, extra care and reassurance they might need. I built and maintained a strong partnership with the parents and carers to work together and further support the individual child’s development through sharing knowledge and continuously recording, tracking and planning using the standard measurements of the Early Years Foundation Stage to help the children achieve the early learning goals and work to their highest potential.

Many of the families who I have built strong relationships with frequently request additional out of hours babysitting in which I am always happy to oblige and to support their children in their own home.

I have also been a staff member of a morning and after-school club where I took care for children aged 4 to 11 in the morning club by preparing breakfast, taking the children to school and in the afternoon club by collecting the children from class, preparing nutritionally balanced snacks with some involvement from the children and participating and planning activities based around the children’s ideas and interests or in relation to what the children are learning in their classrooms. I implemented age appropriate chores and targets to develop their teamwork, self-confidence and independence.

I worked as a full-time nanny in Italy for three months where I took care of three girls aged 3, 7 and 9 by planning engaging activities to develop their English language. I supported the children with homework, daily health and hygiene routines, during holiday travel and worked with other staff to ensure all household duties were kept running smoothly.

I have also gained a certificate in Paediatric First Aid with St John’s Ambulance. I am able take responsibility and to provide first aid for any infant or child, to be able to assess an emergency situation to prevent and minimise the risk of danger by recognizing and responding appropriately. Having successfully completed a course of training and an assessment I gained a Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering which ensures I have a personal and legal responsibility to maintain a high health, hygiene and safety standard when handling food and drink to prevent contaminations and to control any food safety hazards when dealing with equipment and cleaning. I also hold a clear Disclose and Barring Service Criminal Records Check.

Prior to starting the Level 3 Children and Young People’s Workforce qualification I spent two years gaining a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Photography, Art and Design. As I thoroughly enjoy art, achieving this qualification has given me the support in promoting creative learning in young children whilst working at the setting.

I love to read and aim to encourage this as much as possible. I like spending my weekends listening to music, learning to cook, going to the movies, visiting museums and art galleries, being active at the gym, cycling, swimming and spending time with my family and friends. I would love to learn of your family’s interests.

I am a caring, kind, trustworthy and flexible individual. I would love to work in a partnership team with you to give your family the highest quality service provided that will meet your children’s individual needs and interests, through creating a positive, fun and active learning environment whilst giving them the chance to explore new opportunities and experiences. I always eager to learn and take on any new challenges or requests.

I consider myself to be neat, methodical and well organised and would enjoy the opportunity to support a family in their daily life. I love animals and I am willing to travel. I think I would be great for a family looking for a fun, loving, creative and energetic nanny.

To whom it may concern, I highly recommend Sophie Buckley as a member of staff for your employment. Sophie has worked with myself since 8th October 2012, first as a volunteer and then as a trainee nursery nurse while completing her Level 3 Diploma. She is confident when communicating with the children, staff at all levels and parents. Sophie is able to complete her learning journey?€™s to a high and accurate standard. Although Sophie has excellent relationships with her key children and their parents, she is always aware of avoiding bias and the confidentiality this work involves. Sophie can work independently, with a team and is able to follow all tasks through to completion with care and to a high standard. Sophie will volunteer to assist in other areas of the nursery and is always willing to help her colleagues. Any project I have assigned Sophie to is completed to a very high standard and adapted to meet the needs of all the children and staff involved. Sophie would be a tremendous asset to your work team and has my highest recommendation. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me via email or mobile. Sincerely Mrs. Dawn Steaton. Nursery room Supervisor/Holiday Club Team Leader

Kristina Garnett
Dear Sophie, Kyla is a shy girl who can be reluctant to interact and join in but you have worked hard as Kyla?€™s key worker and are able to bring Kyla out of her shell. Kyla is happy secure and confident at nursery thanks to your caring and nurturing nature. You are prepared to go the extra mile with the children and you have been a great support with Kyla?€™s potty training and talking. Kyla was thrilled with her sticker chart for potty training, immediately showing it to dad when we got home. Kyla has quickly grasped the concept. You have also been working with us to develop Kyla?€™s speech as advised by the speech and language therapist. Kyla?€™s vocabulary is improving with the words she is hearing from you. Kyla is stating the key words to help her communication as recognised by the specialist, such as ?€˜More?€™, ?€˜Again?€™,. we have attached the guidance to show the key words in speech therapy that the health worker provided to us. A further area that Kyla is growing in is her arts and building skills, each evening/day regularly involves building and demolishing towers or drawing cats. You have been creative in the activities you get the children to do for example the insect project where they made bees and grass hoppers. Along with all the interaction the paperwork is kept up to date, we receive regular updates when we drop off or collect Kyla from you. The daily sheet you provide telling us about Kyla?€™s day helps us greatly with deciding what to do for the rest of the day/evening with Kyla. Many thanks for your help, Kristina & Tony Garnett.
