Hello. My name is Norma. In three words I am: respectful, diligent, and creative. I am wonderful with pets (even cats. ); I can feed them, walk them, and wash them. My first job was at Disney World and I still find the magic completely inspiring. In my free time I enjoy reading articles from around the web, filling in my adult coloring book with a set of 72 colored pencils, and watching Netflix. I can cook, my specialty is breakfast as it is my favorite meal. I have no problem giving up my Friday and/or Saturday nights on a regular basis.
I have been a vegetarian for the past three years, for animal cruelty reasons. But I am not too brazen about it unless someone has a genuine interest in hearing about my choice. But take this to mean that I am kind but strong willed.
Both of my parents teach High School; Dad teaches art and Mom teaches English as a Second Language. My Mom is a tiny Puerto Rican woman with a doctorate in Multicultural Literature. She is adorable yet fierce. Not to sound like a cliche, but they are my role models. They work thanklessly to make a change in hundreds of students' lives. They do it by understanding each student's unique background and fashioning their learning in a fun and impactful way.
I finished my schooling last spring where I got a Bachelors in Marketing Communications and a minor in writing, from Emerson College ( 3. 3 GPA). I moved to Los Angeles from Boston last January and have been loving it so far.
For the past year I have been working at an Acting/Casting studio in Studio City. I was doing general office work and figuring out a tricky CRM software for them. I got a job at Coffee Commissary when I first got here, which was a barista's dream job. I left Commissary because a recruiter from Tesla contacted me, where I currently work part-time. My plans are to continue this job as well, but the hours of the shift should be easy enough to work around.
I have a California license, registration, and insurance. I got my license in March of 2015. I have never been in an accident where I was at fault; I was rear ended on the I-5 once. I only smoke from time to time, so I answered 'Yes, but I will abstain', just to be safe.

Both of my parents are teachers and they have many friends that are too. In the weeks leading up to the first day of school, the teachers are back to prepare their classrooms and materials before the students get there. Seeing as our house was a block away from the high school, my sisters and I became the resident day care advisors. For 3 years we took care of a small handful of children.
We prepared by childproofing the cabinets and moving anything breakable or potentially messy to another room. Caring for the children was surprisingly fun. My favorite memory is watching Sleeping Beauty with a 5 and 7 year old, then waltzing around the living room to the menu music.
I was a girl Scout from 7th-12th grade. To get a safety awareness patch, we had to teach someone else about safety. So we organized an event with 8 brownie troops in which we taught them about stranger danger, traffic safety, drug (medicine) safety, and using the internet safely.
My childcare strategy would be a combination of crafts, reading, cooking, games, and movies. |
