I was born and raised partially in Chicago. I spent my formative years in Tulsa, Oklahoma where I learned the value of not only having an at-home helper but also the value of lending a helping hand whenever required and that the act of helping should always be an end unto itself. While I have lived a full and fulfilling life, I have also assisted in raising many children and maintaining many households. I enjoy reading, playing sports, yoga, Pilates, going for long walks, shopping (of course. ), keeping up with the latest beauty products, taking classes and learning new skills. I am currently single and intended to stay single, childless but have a plethora of nieces and nephews who satisfy whatever maternal instincts I may have.
I am looking for a part time position as (preferably) a housekeeper as I am moving to Las Vegas to be closer to my family. My aim? To establish a comfortable lifestyle in a beautiful climate while I gear myself up to go to nursing school. I am willing to do part-time nanny work and am very good with kids (can and will provide references upon request. Or give me a call and we'll go over my experiences) but children need consistent care and familiar faces and I am afraid I will be too busy with my full-time job plus school to be the lighthouse any developing tyke may need. :/
I look forward to hearing from potential employers. Any and all feedback is welcome. :) |

Work Experience & Education Background |

10 years experience, 2 references |
I have been the default babysitter for as long as I can remember.
In 2006, my sister gave birth to a boy who went immediately into a code blue situation. I attended the birth and assisted with delivery as any good sister would. As my sister had less experience with children or childcare than I had, I took initiative in looking after both of them during our week long stay in the NICU. At the time, I had a full time job and was a full time student. Because of my nephew's precarious health, I happily quit my job and took a sabbatical from school to help my sister adjust to being a new mom. Once she and her partner returned to work, I continued to look after him. I also maintained my sister's house, cooked all meals and prepared laundry for weekly pick-up and delivery. I did this until I was confident my sister was adjusting well to motherhood.
While I was in high school, a family friend with three very young children was diagnosed with MS. She was divorced, most family members were elderly and her eldest son was away in the military and could not provide assistance. I was called in to pick up her three children from school, help with homework and provide dinner. Of course, my duties expanded rapidly from there once other needs arose. I worked extensively with her eldest daughter to improve her reading skills (she is now in the Air Force. ), taught the middle child the value of taking pride in having responsibilities (he is now a Marine. ) and served as a playmate/jungle gym/stern disciplinarian for her energetic youngest son. I also cooked healthful meals, maintained her condo, assisted with administrative tasks as requested by the grandmother, did laundry and gave up the occasional weekend to reward the kids for good behavior.
As in any position, corporate or at home, I take pride in my work. I establish a relationship with my employers because we're all human, we all require assistance and it's easier to work together than it is to work alone and it is deeply fulfilling to me to know that my work has helped make life easier for someone else. Of the above experiences, I am still in contact with everyone and it's been a real pleasure watching "my kids" grow up believing in themselves and the goodness of people because of their time spent with me. |

I received my GED because the Chicago Public School system was dangerous and I was eager to get to college as soon as I possibly could. I scored a 2800, received a partial scholarship and a commendation from the governor for scoring in the upper 5 in the state.
I did very well in college but due to a life-threatening illness and then the economic collapse, I have yet to complete my degree. Once in Las Vegas, I intend to attend UNLV to study nursing. Hopefully with a minor in education. |

Additional Experiences/Qualifications/Preferences: |
I do prefer working as Mom's helper or a housekeeper but for the right family, I am perfectly willing to also provide childcare. I am patient, non-reactive and believe that children have a right to freedom to ask question, need structure and routine and can and will learn by whatever example set for them by caretakers. This means mom, this means dad, this means aunties, uncles and Nanny, so I strive to provide an excellent example. If the kids are doing homework, so is Nanny!
As a housekeeper, I truly appreciate being given strict instructions. Tell me how you'd like your house run ideally and I will make it happen. Warning: I am a city girl from Chicago, so there's been no need for a car but I intend to have my driver's license and a vehicle of my own by August at the latest, so I can't run errands for the family/household. I am neat, orderly, structured, routine-oriented, detail oriented and happy to be micromanaged provided we maintain open communication. If micromanagement isn't your style, again, just tell me what you need and I'll make it happen! :) |
