WORK EXPERIENCE
Teacher
Bright Biginnings Academy - Merrillville, IN - December 2004 to August 2015
Responsibilities
As a teacher for 14+ years teaching preschool, I had many job responsibilities. I worked as the Lead Teacher
in my own classroom, I had to multi-task as I was mostly by myself. I had to make sure my classroom was
clean, organized, decorated, warm and welcoming. I had an open door policy with my parents and followed
confidentiality policies. I managed a group of 24 age appropriate children on a daily basis. I worked with children
who had IEP's and children who had disabilities. I also made my own lesson plans and made sure all my
activities and projects were fun and educational. I focused my Themes on Idea's the kids were interested
in but still made sure I met the developmental skills needed for them to succeed. I also did yearly parentteacher conferences, sharing students progress, strengths, area's that need improvement and observations
about the students. I was also an Aide in our Kindergarten classroom, I offered hands-on help to students and
helped monitor their progress, i also helped with the management of the classroom, offered individual and small
group instuction, created classroom displays, labeled and organized materials needed in the class, and graded
papers. I am very good at following directions and I get along with everybody.
Accomplishments
My biggest accomplishment is simply the beautiful relationships that I have been honored to have with
students. Students will most likely succeed knowing that their teachers truly care for them. I am the type of
teacher that tends to focus on THE BEST LESSON EVER. This truly excites me but I know these thing really
don't make a lasting impression. They come back because I saw them, appreciated them, was amused by
them, and opened myself up to them. And because it's so important these relationships are my most important
accomplishments. and it's one I don't often talk about.. Relationships are everything..

Jackie Bergstrom |
I have worked with Jackie for more then 5 yrs when i was Teaching. She was the other Lead Teacher in the other Prek classroom and we made a great Team!! We worked closely together to make sure we implemented an Educational and Fun Lesson plan for the children. We planned hands on activities and had Themes that the children expressed interest in. We also made it a point to keep parents informed on their children progress and had an open door policy in which we encouraged them to visit/call often with any problems/questions they might have. My employment came to an end in Aug, 2015 when the school permanently closed. |
