  About Me

I am an only child. My mother was widowed when she was pregnant with me at 29. I have lived my whole life in Southern California and moved up to Santa Barbara when my best friend asked me to. He is slowly losing his eye sight due to a genetic eye condition called choroideremia and I helped get his life in order. I do his laundry, cook, clean the house and help him in anything in his daily life. We have a service animal which we love as if he is our child. I love all kinds of animals but sometimes my allergies get in the way of that love. I love to paint, always looking for something new to read, tending to my garden, and hiking to the beach. I should also mention that I went to medical school in Guatemala for 4 years and the experience I gained there provided me with a mentality that broadened my awareness towards different cultures and diversity. I have excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills. I have a knack for building strong working relationships with everyone I meet and talk to and Finally I have the strong ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks in any challenging environment.

  Work Experience & Education Background

10 years experience, 5 references
I have been baby sitting children since I turned 15 and have learned over the years the needs of children young and old. I have come to learn that the ones that need the most attention are those that are usually 11 and under since children 12 and older have reached the stage where they just like to be left alone or are usually on some sort of electronic device. I love taking care of babies and it gives me satisfaction when I am able to sooth their crying or any need. Within the last 3 years I have been helping an old coworker who suffers from down syndrome along with severe autism. He barely speaks, is very tactile, trusts a small group of people and is only able to let people who are close to him that he needs to go to the bathroom or if wants food. In the time that I learned to care for him I learned how hard it must be for a parent to deal with a special needs child daily and that sometimes they just have their quirks and sometimes just want to be left alone. Living with a person that is visually impaired pushes me to keep things super tidy and on top of organizing anything and everything he needs to do. He goes to school so I make sure that he does his homework and I also pick up after him, especially since he doesn't see when he drops things. I make his appointments and drive him to them.

I went to Louisville High School which is located in Woodland Hills, California and then went on to college at Cal State University Northridge in Northridge, California. After pondering what I wanted to do with my life after I got my degree in Liberal Studies/ Biology, I decided I wanted to go to medical school. Since I have dual citizenship I decided to go to Guatemala and study at the Universidad de San Carlos. I went there for 4 years but unfortunately due to a series of events and my life was threated I decided to come back to the United States and was unable to finish medical school

Laura Jouflas, RDH 5819 W. Avenue K2 Lancaster, CA 93536 661-406-1315 ljouflas@prodigy.ne... 12, 2015 Dear Sir/Madam: I have known Carla Mendizabal for more than twenty five years. Over the many years I have had the privilege of watching her grow and flourish in to a very bright and caring woman. We met when she was a patient of Dr. Martin Lasky and I use to clean her teeth. Through the years I have been able to see her as a young child and watched her grow into a savvy person who has extensive knowledge of the dental field. For 15 years, she worked in the family run dental practice that had 4 doctors and a staff of about 25 people. Through the years I saw her transition from a front desk receptionist and eventually take on the task of becoming the billing manager. In the transition I saw how capable and how well she excels on multi-tasking while being responsible for financially looking after the practice. Her customer service skill have been perfected but what sets her apart from others is that she is willing to go the extra mile to make sure that the customer understands that she is there to help them with whatever means possible. Her last contribution to the office was aiding in training 15-20 staff members in how to appropriately use the Dentrix software program. The staff had to learn how to use the program and learn how to enter appropriate procedure codes, so that the office as a whole could improve work flow and tend better to each of the patients needs. I would also like to mention that she has taken care of my 30 year old son Christopher, who suffers from autism and down syndrome. He has come to love her and she has been able to meet any and all of his needs and he has learned to trust and love her like a sister. In all I know Carla to be a dependable, honest, courteous, smart and financially savvy. She would be an asset to any organization and company and would highly recommend her for any other position that she chooses to pursue. Please feel free to contact me should you have any further questions. Sincerely, Laura Jouflas

Daniel Broz
Daniel Peter Broz 719 Bath Street Apt 2 Santa Barbara, CA 93101 917-402-1446 April 1, 2015 Dear Sir/ Madam, I am writing you in regards to my relationship with Carla Mendizabal. I have known Carla for close to fifteen years. In that time she has been an absolutely wonderful friend in more ways than I can write. I have a genetic disease that has caused me to go blind. Carla has come through in spades in regards to helping my life be easier. She has not only helped me organize my life, but taught me how to be organized. She is kind and patient beyond description. My paper works, including my taxes and other financial files, have been taken care of by her. My kitchen and room are also arranged in a manner where I can find things easily. These may seem inconsequential in terms of employment, but I believe this offers a window in to the type of person that Carla is. She is organized, coordinated, neat and numerous other qualities that I highly value. I would be remiss if I did not write this letter recommending that you hire her. I know that whatever task she puts her mind to she does completely and without compare. I may not work for your company, but I would humbly state that hiring Carla would be nothing but a boon to your company. Thank you for taking the time to read this and for considering Carla for employment. Best Regards, Daniel Broz
