My name is Alexandra Krakaur and I am a Sophomore at Hunter College. I am double majoring in English Language Arts and Elementary Education with a minor in Spanish. Once I graduate in 2018 I will be a certified teacher in the state of New York. I absolutely love working with children which is what I have been doing since I got my first job. I started out at a gymnastics gym called The Little Gym where I planned and hosted birthday parties and taught classes to children age 3-12. I also was responsible for training new employees as we hired new staff. During this school year I work at an after school program called GOAL-Giving Open Access to Learning where I was a teacher's aide. The program is based at a school in East Harlem where I work with underprivileged children and try to expand their education and opportunities. I am also placed in a school where I am doing fieldwork in a second grade class. The majority of the students in the class have special needs so I have gained experience working with children with special needs. My first language is English and Spanish is my second language as I have studied it for 8 years. I enjoy spending time outside, exercising, and trying new things. I love to explore museums, go to the theater, and learn about other cultures and countries. |

I worked at a gymnastics gym called The Little Gym where I planned and hosted birthday parties and taught classes to children ages 3-12. I worked there for 4 years and was also a new employee trainer. I also work at an after school program called GOAL- Giving Open Access to Learning where I am a teacher's aide. The program aims to support underprivileged children while they are in school. I work with the teachers and the students to expand their opportunities and education beyond what they are able to receive at home. I am also placed in a second grade class for my fieldwork experience through my college. This class is mostly special needs students so I have gained knowledge and experience working with children with a wide variety of special needs. I have also been a babysitter on and off for the past 6 years. |

Dr. Evan Brody |
Dr. Evan Brody was my boss at The Little Gym where I worked for him for 4 years. The Little Gym is located in Olney, Maryland. I terminated my employment because I went off to college in New York City.
A reference letter that I have received from Dr. Evan Brody is:
October 12, 2015
To Whom It May Concern,
I am writing to you in support of Alexandra Krakaur and her desire to work in your after school program. I have known Alex since February 10, 2012 when I hired her to teach at The Little Gym of Olney, MD. She is fantastic. Alex started at The Little Gym of Olney as a high school student and immediately displayed a much greater level of maturity than others her age. She came to us with a great work ethic and sense of responsibility.
I am pleased to see Alex working in an after school environment. The Little Gym is a company which specializes in motor skill development. We are an educational facility which in a sense teaches physical education in the form of gymnastics, sports skill development, karate and dance. We also provide birthday parties and camps. Besides teaching great classes, Alex was expected to build relationships with the children and their parents. In each case she was extremely capable and effective representing our brand. She demonstrated effective teaching skills in class as reflected in the enthusiasm of the children and the skill growth that occurred during the year. Alex also hosted birthday parties, which takes a certain talent to get 20 kids motivated and excited to celebrate a friend’s birthday.
Alex served as a manager on duty of fellow staff, demonstrating effective leadership skills. Her ability to handle difficult situations while remaining calm made her one of our key staff. Alex was able to execute lesson plans for all curriculums for children of ages three through twelve. She has a good sense of class management and can easily dive into any situation presented no matter how challenging.
I highly recommend Alexandra Krakaur for any position she applies for, especially if it has to do with working with or teaching children. Please feel free to contact me should you have any questions. Should you hire Alex, you will get a very dedicated employee who maintains high standards with initiative and responsibility. Thank you for the opportunity to write on her behalf.
Sincerely,
Evan Brody, Ph.D.
