  About Me

I am a 21 year old Sophomore College Student at Santa Monica College as a Sociology major and I am also minoring in psychology and kinesiology. I am also a star athlete in basketball (TEAMPLAYER) but I recently decided to focus more on my career of child care, social work and child psychology. I have training with children of various ages and various mental and physical capabilities due to my major and minor. I am compassionate, positive, enthusiastic, reliable, and punctual to say the least. I also take pride in being able to adapt to children and people of all ages and I truly believe it is my calling. Sociology & Psychology has given me the opportunity to work with children and I can honestly say they teach me just as much as I teach them. I have worked as a Volunteer Counselor at Gage Middle School from January 2014 which has also given me experience of watching kids and helping them with homework, activities, and whatever else they may need. As a nanny I have worked a year (March 2015-16) for a family of two boys, age four and 10 months & it was amazing. I loved every part of being around the kids and family & although it was challenging at first, that's what made me love it even more. The challenge of adapting to a family and kids each time makes me an even better candidate in my career field. I have no problem with sacrificing myself for kids or people in general and I will and do all I can to make people happy.
I like positive vibes, happy people, honest people and loyalty. I just enjoy being around genuine people and that's why I love to work with children. I believe Children have no ill intentions at all.
I dislike negative people, people without goals, not truthful, and selfish.
My hobbies are coaching basketball, playing basketball, fitness, writing, listening to music, going to museums, hiking, lakes/beaches, golfing and pretty much anything fun and chill.
I don't drink, smoke, or party and do not affiliate myself with people who can jeopardize my future.
I am an easy going person who will do all They can to make a positive impact on people around them and I believe my references and former employers will say the same.

Sha'Toya Jenkins
I worked for Ms. Jenkins and her family of two boys as a nanny from March 2015 to March 2016. I was a live in nanny off and on to her and her soon to be husband in San Diego, while I originally live in Los Angeles, CA. The reasons why we ended were due to me wanting to be closer to home to finish school. It was a mutual agreement and I truly loved every day of my experience with the family.

Jaime Urbina
I worked as a volunteer counselor for a Boys Group Home from January 2013- to now. My time there was shared between the two jobs when I started working as a nanny in 2015 wouldn't be in San Diego. I am now wanting different aspects of my career field and want to receive pay for my work as well now to help with college tuition and other life necessities. "April 28, 2016 To Whom It May Concern: It is my distinct pleasure to write this letter of character for Brandon Baker. Mr. Brandon Baker has served as a Volunteer Peer Mentor at the Aguila Boys Recovery Home. As the Volunteer mentor, Brandon provides direct instruction to our youth with trouble lives. As a staff member at the Aguila Boys Home it has been my good fortune to work closely with Brandon throughout the past 3 years. What impresses me the most is that Brandon is a skillful, talented, dedicated individual who has always been willing to extend himself to meet the needs of our Youth. At the Aguila Boys Home he works with youth from a variety of cultural backgrounds and treats them all with the utmost Respect. He is a loyal Volunteer and is well liked by our staff and most importantly by the Residents we serve. Brandon is a Huge asset to our program as he has a gift of connecting with our youth as they look up to him and follow his direction. Regardless of what is asked of Brandon, he has always been gracious in offering his support and willingness to make a difference. He works in support of our Residents and they truly see him as a Positive Role Model in their lives. I give Brandon Baker my highest recommendation as a quality responsible young adult who believes in the dignity of this profession. Please feel free to contact me if there is any other information I can provide. Respectfully, Jaime Urbina Los Angeles Unified School District Healthy Start Coordinator Jaime.urbina@lausd.net 323...
