  About Me

I adore spending my day with children. They are the future of all of us and I take my position of influence deeply to heart. Children love their caregivers and I love them back. I strongly consider myself to be a partner with the parents, conveying their parenting guidelines and communicating often. My primary set of standards is: safety first, psychological well being and health next and preparation for whatever their next growth step or challenge is after that. I wrap it all up in understanding, a soft voice and a confidence in myself and them. They give me and teach me as much as I give them. It is a privilege to work with children. :)I am patient and kind, giving children a lot of freedom of choice and assignment of responsibilities appropriate to their age. I believe that so much of what we convey to children is in modeling so I endeavor to model honesty, a good work ethic, trustworthiness (doing what you say you will)and consequences rather than punishments. Primarily underneath all this is a strong bond of loving care and daily laughing. Learning through Play Play Playing.

  Work Experience & Education Background

10 years experience, 5 references
I started babysitting when I was a teenager and quickly became solidly booked up because of my reliability, patience and competence with high need children. I homeschooled my daughter and was very involved with other homeschool families and activities. I taught art and other subjects to homeschool children and learned some basic OT and PT techniques to help friends with high-need children. I worked in daycare, initially in all age groups and then as a Lead Teacher with infants. I have nannied for up to four children in a family and families with infants. I love all ages and can communicate, interact and problem-solve with all ages, but I am particularly in demand by reputation for my infant care.

Childcare experience within the following age groups:
Newborn - 3 months, 3 - 12 months, 1 - 2 years, 2 - 5 years, 5 - 10 years, over 10 years of age, special needs children, twins, triplets
Education/Training:
College, College Child Education Courses, First Aid Training, Certified Nanny Training, CPR Training, Live and Experience
I majored in Fine Art in college for approx. 2 years, then switched to EE for another 3 or so semesters (having to almost start over with math and science courses). I was married and got pregnant with my daughter, so I stayed home with her. After she graduated I took more childcare courses both in college, The Fund for Childcare Excellence and many individual 1 to 4 hour trainings. I keep my First Aid and CPR current.
