  About Me

Dear Family,
Since I am a distance away, I wanted you to know who I am and why I believe that I would be the perfect fit for your family. Finding the right person to help raise, nurture and teach your kids can be stressful and that’s why I hope this letter brings you a sense of comfort.
I grew up in Coeur D’ Alene Idaho, in the beautiful Northwest. I am blessed to have and older sister and a younger brother which has taught me a great deal about sibling rivalry. We grew up on a mountain overlooking the Coeur D’ Alene, so we didn’t have too many neighbors to speak of. Therefore, the majority of our days were spent playing together, which has built a strong bond between the three of us. I was very blessed to be able to have my mother as a stay- at- home mom. She was very creative and loved to have each one of us involved with her as much as possible. My Father was an attorney and became a very strong figure in my life. He is the one who inspired me to follow my dreams and to be all that God has created me to be. He was also the one who instilled values and morals in our lives.
I believe that my creative and adventurous side was formed during my childhood. From my mother, who had us cooking, cleaning and gardening as soon as we could walk, to our weekend backpacking trips into the most amazing beautiful country that God created, which also instilled a sense of confidence and self-sufficiency in me. My family also had a lake home where we spent our summer days playing with our cousins, friends and grandparents. My parents also believed that education was one of the most important foundations for any child, so they made sure to provide us with as many resources and challenges as possible.
The question that many people have asked me is “Why do you want to be a nanny”? If you talk to any member of my family and friends they will tell you that I’m most fulfilled when I’m helping to train and tutor a child to become an amazing, happy, well-rounded and successful adult. I didn’t really realize this desire until I was about 9 years old and from then on I found as many possible opportunities that I could to be around children. On one of our yearly trips to Maui, I vividly remember that instead of playing with my siblings, I looked for kids who needed a “big sister” to play with. Well, I found those two children and instantly bonded with them and their parents. Many nights were spent babysitting, when my siblings would be playing and going on adventures. I knew from then on that I wanted to pursue a career that involved children.
I found out about nannying when I was in my first year of college. Not ready to jump into school, I decided that this would be the most amazing opportunity to put my hand to what I love doing. So, the decision was made to take the first step and meet with an agency and find an amazing family. Before I knew it, I was on a plane to New York City. This was a huge transition for me, but one where I was able to really grow and gain very valuable experience, not to mention a backbone. After a year in NY I moved to Tulsa OK where I meet Brianna Daniele Gavlik. She had just turned 3 and needed a new nanny. I jumped on this opportunity. For the next 10 years with Brianna, and one more addition to the family, I had the pleasure of teaching, training, tutoring, and creating two of the most amazing girls in the eyes of their parents. During my time with the Gavliks, I was also able to gain my undergraduate degree in early childhood psychology. With this education, and the girls off to school, I decided to take my experience and apply it in a more global fashion. I was offered the opportunity to volunteer at Laureate Psychiatric hospital, where I assisted with the teaching and counseling of sexually abused children. Also, I decided to volunteer in my church’s nursery and grade school for Sunday and Wednesday night services. This was a blessing in its own and I was grateful to be able to volunteer for over 6 years.
Tulsa is also where I meet my best friend, who at the time had 4 children all under the age of 5. So you could say that I was surrounded with little blessings everywhere I went. Betty’s girls are now in their late teens early 20’s, and I’m so grateful to know that I had a major part to play in their development, starting from infancy to their formative teenage years (only God helped us through that).
Moving to Colorado, I again had the opportunity to be a nanny. William Christopher was the next joy in my life. For the two years I saw a little man develop into an amazing 3 year old. Knowing over those two years that I played a part in his development of speech, vocabulary, (advanced toddler) creativity and independence brought me great joy.
I also have developed capabilities in other areas besides working with children. I have spent many years developing my skills in communication and teaching by accepting positions of leadership and management of adults in multi-million dollar stores. This has taught me drive, maturity, education, experience, love, patience and courage to be the perfect nanny/governess/ tutor for your child.
I am well-traveled, not only overseas but in the US. I have experience with High Profile families, so I know what it means to have the utmost discretion. I’m athletic and love to be outdoors. I’ve lived in 5 cities, on my own, so I know what responsibility is. I also was a part of the Seattle and Chicago’s Jr. Leagues, where I was able to volunteer my time tutoring homeless children in impoverished areas.

Sincerely,
Marli M B.
