  About Me

I am a well-educated woman who has developed her moral and intellectual faculties to assist children in both a family and educational setting. I was born in Oak Lawn, Illinois, have 1 younger sister, 1 older and another younger brother. I am an extremely family oriented person, and am very much dedicated to all of them, including my parents. I have a very active lifestyle, I love music, singing, and multi-tasking, and absolutely love new and exciting excursions. My grandparents have always lived in a house on a lake, so I absolutely love nature and family bonding.
Interestingly enough, I absolutely love to cooking and cleaning. Whatever the task, I am interested in engaging and fulfilling it. Since birth, my parents, aunts and uncles, and grandparents have instilled in all of us the motivation and desire to organize, clean, and to take care of our belongings. The words of my grandfather that still ring in my mind on a regular basis are, "you must always leave a room or bathroom the way you would like the next person to experience it. " So, in other words, live in the pursuit of serving others as well as yourself.
Lastly, I absolutely love watching and taking care of children, regardless of age. My life's work will be to instruct and take care of children in a plethora of situations, and I am able and excited for the task to culminate. My experience with children has mostly been according to a curriculum or set of overlying principles. My experience with babysitting has always been formulated according to the parent's wishes and personally established goals for his/her children. However, I am extremely capable of taking charge and using my own decision making capabilities to care for children.

  Work Experience & Education Background

10 years experience, 5 references
I am nearly 23 years old, and have been babysitting and cleaning for both relatives and family friends for the majority of my young life. I have many cousins, 35 younger in number, and have been assisting my aunts and uncles since 10 years of age. Throughout my college career I studied Education, and have taught innumerable individualized lessons to various elementary school students in a variety of different schools to fulfill requirements. I have a strong desire to teach students not only because I love children, but also because I feel as though my life's calling is to instruct them to study and live up to their fullest potential in this life, to both serve their families and their country as well.
Throughout the summers, I have consistently worked at a private school called Morgan Park Academy in Chicago, Illinois both watching children and aiding them in their studies, as well as artistic development in music, art, and drama. The children's ages have ranged from age 4-13 years of age. I have worked for this program since age 13 until my present age, 22. Meanwhile, I also babysat for my younger cousins, sometimes daily, other times infrequently. Last summer, I assisted an autistic child named Caleb, which was also very helpful in building my personal ability to aid children with learning differences.

Education/Training:
Bachelor's Degree
I have just obtained my bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a Spanish concentration in May 2007 from the University of Dallas in Irving, Texas. My alma mater is a small Catholic institution that prides itself on its intense core curriculum centered on forming independent thinkers through a rigorous program based on classical literature, as well as historial, literary, philosophical, and political tradition of not only world wide thinkers, but of our American civilization. I owe my educational and spiritual development to the University of Dallas. It is an incredible institution that strives to convey the intellectual progression of great thinkers and how they directly impact each and every one of our existences. Ud has an incredible study abroad program in Rome. I was lucky to have been able to live abroad for 4 months on our campus called Due Santi, a city 45 minutes by train, from the eternal city itsef. The curriculum taught to us was simply fascinating due to the fact that we were able to learn about the foundations of our religion, as well as tremendous works of literature that were set in places that we were able to visit. We took many class trips to places such as Florence, Assisi, Sperlonga, and Fossanova, all places in Italy. We also took a ship to Greece and were able to read Socrates and Plato while standing in the ancient Agora in Athens, Greece. The pleasure and excitement gained from this semester are truly inexplicable, and have taught me to appreciate true intellectualism as well as its tremendous role in the lives of human beings. The University of Dallas is strictly a Liberal Arts school, that doesn't explicitly train individuals for his/her vocational pursuits; however, the education works to instill firm values and moral principles which motivate students to serve as an individual in society to their fullest capacity. From UD, I have nearly completed my teacher certification; however, I have put this entity of my education on hold until after I live in Madrid, Spain for one year as an English language assistant for elementary school students. I plan to become certified to teach English as a Second Language after I master the Spanish language (fingers crossed). The final step in my path is to student teach in order to obtain my certification. This will occur soon enough, but not until I fulfill my dream to live in Spain for a year.
