  About Me

Each year of my daughter's life has been filled with joyful, happy moments for me. With each fun filled game that we would play together, I would see that she was gaining knowledge, strength and, independence that would likely help her with her future life. It was so easy to feel her joys and accomplishments almost as if they were my own. As a reward for receiving all A's while taking 18 units during her last semester, I have built her a small house. Now, my only child is 25 years old, has graduated from Loyola Marymount University and has a great job. Unfortunately, because of her job, friends and boy friend, I don’t see her much anymore.
Now I am missing that playful, wide-eyed sense of adventure that a young child can have and sharing their discoveries with the rest of the family. I would like to pass on any of the knowledge that I have gained to the next generation. I can playfully teach electronics, physics and, many other subjects to a child as young as 3 by building things or helping them to observe their everyday life. I would enjoy helping a child design their own playhouse & then help them build it in their back yard. Of course, I also enjoy the more traditional childhood activities such as roller skating, going to the beach or a museum, etc. Children naturally desire to play a large variety of different games to enable them to gain the knowledge that they will need for their future. I enjoy providing ideas, materials and, if necessary, the transportation to a location so that they may obtain this knowledge. I can customize an activity as I observe the unique set of interests, sense of humor, skills and, attention span that a child has. This is of value because a child will best retain the knowledge that I teach when they are having the most fun. Though some parents and nannies are sitting on the park benches visiting with each other or, reading while their children play, you will find me helping the child learn all the safe ways to play on the playground equipment. I will likely be laughing and playing along with the child as we create imaginary games. If the child is receptive, I will also be adding brief lessons relating to science throughout the day. Rather than give a child an answer to a problem, my focus is to help a child to learn how to observe, analyze, speculate as to the possibilities and then, arrive at the most logical conclusion. Asking a child the right questions can allow them to develop a strategy to help them to come to the best solution that they can at that time. I will be doing these things because it is a joy. At the end of the day, I will take satisfaction in knowing that I have helped the child to gain knowledge and better develop their strength, endurance, coordination, confidence and, creativity.
Rather than to wait till the child is older and have to tutor them for subjects that they are having problems with, it seems more logical to me to start when a child is younger. Children naturally desire to play a large variety of different games to enable them to gain the knowledge that they will need for their future. I enjoy providing ideas, materials and, if necessary, the transportation to a location so that they may obtain this knowledge. As a child, I sometimes experienced the boredom from not having some of these opportunities and, as a working parent, I have felt the need to provide these opportunities for my daughter though, I could not always find the time to do so. I now have the time and the desire to incorporate educational concepts into adventuresome children's activities. I would like to enable a child to discover in what ways they are gifted and all the activities that they enjoy doing while gaining the knowledge that will be useful for their future.
