Hi. I am a 29 year old married woman who has a good amount of experience in childcare. I started working with children in my early teens (babysitting jobs), and have been loving it ever since. Even though my college degree is in Criminal Justice, I have almost always worked with kids. When I was 20, I was a full time nanny for an 11 year old boy while I was in college. My duties included preparing his meals, taking him to and from school, helping him with his homework, and doing some light house work. After I graduated from college at age 25, I worked at a place called Maryhurst, which is a home for abused/troubled teenage girls. I worked there for about 8 months, gaining extensive experience working with teens. Then I worked at The Brook Hospitals @ KMI (psychiatric and chemical dependency hospital) where I worked mostly with teenage girls and boys for another 8 months. These jobs helped me to become very accommodating in working with and caring for teenagers with difficult problems. I realized I wanted to get more experience working with younger children, so it was then I got a job working for the Early Learning Campus at the University of Louisville. I worked there for a year, and worked mostly with children between the ages of 6 weeks and 2 years of age. I currently work for Kayfield Academy in a classroom of 1 to 2 year olds. Though I enjoy my job very much, I have come to realize I would rather work with a single family and their child/children only. It's very difficult to give each child the care and attention they deserve when there are as many as 18 children in the classroom at one time; and only 3 teachers. This, I believe, is a bit of a disservice to the children. I would be much happier giving my attention to 1 to 3 children at a time.
A little more about me: My hobbies include reading, writing, watching movies, going for walks outside, spending time with my friends, family, and husband. I got married in October of 2011, and am definitely enjoying the married life. I am looking forward to having children of my own, but don't plan on becoming pregnant for another year or so. I am also crazy about animals and pets. I have owned cats most of my life and absolutely love them. In addition, I am also very good with dogs, birds, hamsters, rabbits, etc. In other words, if you have any pets, then that's not a problem at all. I really do love working with children and hope to find a family which will need my services. If you think I sound like the nanny for your family, please do not hesitate to call me. All I ask is if you do decide to employ me, you will allow me to give my current employer (Kayfield Academy) two weeks notice. It's only fair to them. Thank you so much for reading. |
