Greetings. My name is Victoria. I am an Elementary Education major at Penn State University currently completing my student teaching practicum in a fourth grade classroom in Pierre, South Dakota. While my time in the classroom has been enlightening and wonderful, it's made me realize how much I miss the close relationships that are difficult to foster in large-group teacher/student interactions. As such, I have decided to apply my degree in an alternate route from classroom teaching.
I would like to return to my childcare routes and work with small groups of children in a comfortable home environment. I love learning the intricacies of a child's unique personalities and building a close rapport with him/her. I feel I can accomplish this more successfully as a nanny than as a traditional classroom teacher. I hope to blend my teaching skills with my childcare provision to create an environment for children that is both educational and fun.
In my spare time, I enjoy reading, cross stitching, roller blading, traveling, and visiting museums. I love dogs and other pets. Unfortunately, I am allergic to cats.
I will graduate from Penn State with a degree in Elementary and Kindergarten Education in May, 2012. I plan on moving to the San Diego area the following summer. I recently visiting the city for the first time and fell in love with the area. I look forward to finding an amiable family in the region to nanny for.

Work Experience & Education Background |
|
| |
| 1 years experience, 2 references |
Childhood is a formative time in life, and I believe the experiences children have in this period can mold their character for years to come. This is why I strive to provide both educational and recreational outings for children. Instilling a love of learning and of new experiences at a young age can have a lifelong impact.
I currently student teach in a fourth grade classroom. I am at a boarding school for at-risk Native American children in grades 1-8. I was in charge of teaching all subjects for the entire school day. I also created bulletin boards, recorded/analyzed grades, and filed report cards. My engagement here is January 2012- May 2012.
Previous to this, I did pre-student teaching in a first-grade classroom at a public school in Pennsylvania from September 2011- December 2011. I came into the classroom two full days a week and taught small-group and whole-class lesson plans in reading, writing, math, and science. In addition, I have volunteer experience in classrooms ranging from K-5 and preschool in Central Pennsylvania.
I cared for two siblings, now aged six and eight, during Summer 2010 and Summer 2011 in Central Pennsylvania. I was their care provider two full days a week from 8:00AM to 5:30PM. I provided basic care such as preparing meals, picking the kids up from school, and driving the kids to appointments. In addition, I hosted play dates and planned activities for the kids. Activities included decorating birdhouses, visiting museums, hiking, and swimming.
