My name is Colleen G.. I am 32 years old and have lived in Jacksonville for the majority of my life. I currently own a home across from NASJAX. I have never been married and live alone. I am looking for full time employment and have open availability. I am interested currently in a temporary position, however, I love children and have not been lucky enough to have my own. I have never actually worked as a nanny; however I could see myself doing this long term. I come from a strong family unit with defined morals/values and have a good sense of right and wrong. I am outgoing, friendly and have an easy time interacting with all people.
As I mentioned before I have several years of professional experience working with children. Although in my career the main focus was ensuring child safety in the home and providing services to the families, there were multiple occasions where this was not possible. During these times as a caseworker I would be responsible for the child(ren) until other arrangements could be made. This would be for periods of time ranging from an hour to an entire day and occurred most often in the middle of the night and outside regular working hours. As a foster care case manager I was responsible for the children on my caseload as if they were mine. I would take them to the doctor, deal with their schools, take them to events and wherever they may need to go. I am not currently babysitting for money; however, I have been doing so since I was 11 years old. The majority of my friends have children ranging from 2-17 and are single parents. I assist them/watch their children when they need me.
I am currently attending school online to become an elementary school teacher and have been a substitute teacher since October.
I am excited about the possibility of working with children in a positive environment on a regular basis and being able to assist in guiding them towards being adults. I believe my years of personal and professional experience combined would make me a great candidate to work for a family in need of someone that they could trust with their children. I look forward to this new venture and all of the experiences that it will bring me.

I have very limited experience working with special needs children, through my previous social work experience. I would be willing to work with them to the fullest extent of my ability. |

Linda McCann |
I worked with Linda for a little less than a year before moving out of state, and then I worked for her for about 3 years when I moved back. She was my direct supervisor at the Department of Children and Families and we had a wonderful working and personal relationship. I chose to leave DCF and move to a new career but have still maintained contact with her and others that I worked with. I have a reference letter from her, however, because it is scanned onto my computer I am unable to paste it to this page for some reason. I will be more than happy for forward a copy upon request. |

Joanna Stringer |
I worked for Joanna at the Department of Children and Families for almost 2 years before moving out of state and for 1 after moving back to Florida. She was promoted to another position within our county at that time, so although she was not my supervisor we continued to work together. I have known her professionally and personally for 10 years. I have a reference letter from her, however, because it is scanned onto my computer I am unable to paste it to this page for some reason. I will be more than happy for forward a copy upon request. |
