The majority of the children I cared for were between 5 and 10. During my time in college, I have gained experience with both teaching and childcare. In my freshman year, I worked for several month with a group of 15 Costa Rican children ranging in age from 4-14 teaching English and helping them put on a theatrical production for their community. During my time in Ghana, I worked with a team teaching middle and high schoolers from several different institutions about health and hygiene. At Bennington, I mentored local high schoolers through both the Quantum Leap and the AmeriCorps Dream programs. On the childcare side, I interned for a summer with a program for children with social difficulties in Burlington, VT. The entire group consisted of 30 children, and each child was given one-on-one support in what was essentially a summer camp setting. I worked with children ages 5 to 10, and gained extensive experience with providing positive and focused guidance for children with a variety of social difficulties.
