I am a 29 year old African American who lives in Snellville, GA with my cousin, her husband, and four children. I enjoy living with my cousin because this house is so full of life, and with the twins and my cousins 7 year old there is never a dull moment. I enjoy spending time with my younger cousins. I like to do arts and crafts with them, watch a animated movie with them, have a picnic with them in the yard, or chase them in the yard or tickle them just to see them smile or laugh. I like working with children because I enjoy making a difference in the life of children, and helping them to become competent adults.
I would like a position as a nanny could it would enable enable me to gain a boarder level of experience as a child care worker as well as enhance my ability to be more creative, nurturing and most of all, patient.
In my senior year at San Diego City College, I enrolled in principles of child development 101 as an elective and found this to be a very interesting course. Once I transferred to San Diego State University as a junior, I began taking additional early childhood education and/or child development courses because I agree with research findings by Erik Erikson, Jean Piaget, B. F. Skinner, Ann Freud, Lev Vygotsky and Ivan Pavlo findings.
Personally, I believe that childhood is a very important period of development in which children should be guided and instructed, so that they can learn to become competent adults rather than incompetent adults.
I majored psychology and minored in child development because I felt that it was important to understand the mentally processes as well as the stages of development that take place from birth to adulthood in order to better understand children. In 2005, I graduated from San Diego State University with a Bachelors of Science Degree in psychology and a minor in child development.
At SDSU, I took courses that allowed me to gain field experience at various children organizations-the school district, churches, and public youth organizations.
It is my goal to combine my range of experience with my ability to be a compassionate, enthusiastic, teacher or child care provide who will make a positive contribution to your family.
My resume is enclosed, and I can provide you with copies of my college/university transcripts.
In terms of salary, I’m certain that your organization offers a fair compensation salary. I look forward to an interview, and I can provide you with details of my qualifications and accomplishments.
Thank you for your time and consideration,
Shaveta F.
