1. Ideally you want to meet with your potential employer or at least engage with them in a local phone call. Be cautious of anyone that offers you a position without interviewing you or wanting to meet you in person.
   See the following example.
   "We reside in the United Kingdom and we will be coming to US in about two weeks and we need a babysitter for our 4 year daughter"
   If you receive a message with content similar to this 99% of the time it is a SCAM!
   Always Remember to DEAL LOCALLY
    
2. Should someone offer you a position that seems to be too good to be true; the pay seems unrealistically high and the working conditions too good then it probably is a scam so contact our customer service department immediately.
    
3. Scam artists often have elaborate scams involving travel agents, lawyers and other professional people. Remember; just because someone claims to be a professional does not make them more trustworthy.
    
4. Never accept advanced payments in the form of checks or by any other means for your work as scammers have been known to send fake checks and then ask you to return the money by western union. You will be the one that is out of pocket.
    
5. Never accept bank deposits to your bank account from someone you have never met in person. Scammers have been known to hack into other people’s bank accounts to transfer money to your account, and then request you return this money to them or purchase some goods on their behalf.
    
6. Never give out any personal information, including your bank account information, credit card, ID or social security number to any employer.
    
7. Never send money by any means to any person claiming to be a potential employer.
    
8. Any English spelling or grammatical errors in a message you receive could point to a fraudulent message as often scam artists are working from non-English speaking countries and have poor English language skills.
    
9. With any doubts or suspicion regarding any employer that contacts you or any job posting you view, notify our customer services team immediately.

Look out for scams similar to the ones below involving an employer wanting to transfer money to your bank account:

A potential employer will offer to send you a certified check for $4600. Your bank will receive this certified bank check and will deposit the money into your bank account for you to use immediately- it is certified after all. This potential employer will explain that you are to keep the $600 yourself and send on the $4000 to a specific place as a favor for them by Western Union or Money Gram. You do as they say and send the $4000 to the destination they request. A few days later your bank contact you that the original certified check you received was a fake and you now owe the bank $4000. There is no way to retrace or retrieve this money as you sent it by Money Gram or Western Union

Alternatively a scam artist may send you a check for $3700- an advance on your salary but then decide not to hire you and ask you to return the money by Western union or Money Gram.
A scam artist may also transfer money to your bank account from some hacked account and ask you to return the money by Western union or use this money to pay for something.

As tempting as it may be it is important that you never accept money or give out your bank details to someone you have never met in person.


A few examples of scam emails to look out for, most of these emails actually come from Nigeria :

Are you looking for a part time job other than babysitting? I am looking for someone who can handle my personal and business errands at his/her spare time. Someone who can offer me these services:
Receive my mails and drop them off at Fedex(nothing illegal).
Shop for Gifts
Sit for delivery( at your home) or pick items up at nearby post office at your convenience.
