We are looking for a compassionate, loving, and responsible person to take care of our 5 year old son, who has autism. Our current babysitter has been working with us for 2 years, but is a Ph. D. student who needs to leave us so she can work on her dissertation. Our son is very sweet, mild-mannered, and good at following simple directions. He eats well and is toilet trained. While he does have some verbal ability, he has considerable challenges in communication, and needs a caregiver who consistently uses simple language and routine with him. We need a person who would try to engage/stimulate him with play activities, and who is safe at all times, especially when playing outside, because he does not understand the danger of crossing the street when cars are passing. You must be extremely conscientious of watching him so that he is safe. Hours to be discussed. You must have your own car and a clean driving record. Pay is $15/hr.
