  About Me

Good Day.

I wanted to offer to help with the care of your children. I strongly believe that the type of education, training, and life experiences I have will allow me to make a great Nanny.

Educationally: I have a BS in Psychology with a minor in Sociology, an MA in Interdisciplinary Studies, and an MA in Mental Health Counseling. Since leaving school, I have had on going training in the field of counseling. Currently, I am working as a independently licensed therapist in an inpatient unit for children with a variety of developmental delays, particularly autism. I am very familiar with interacting with children and have raised a daughter of my own (now 17 and a senior in high school). I enjoy working with children and am starting to transition from my career as a therapist, to that of a sitter/nanny.

I would love the opportunity to help support you and your family through childcare, housework, errands, and/or cooking/baking. I am a structured organized thinker, while also capable of being flexible and spontaneous. I am prepared to engage with your children in ways that encourage and support them developmentally, intellectually, and creatively. and equally important, are fun. I feel very confident in my ability to create a loving, secure, nurturing, stimulating, and healthy environment.

I wanted to share with you some of my interests to explore any possible overlap. I love arts and crafts. I am an avid beader and engage in a number of other crafty pursuits. I have many outdoor hobbies; hiking, swimming, rock climbing, caving, kayaking, SCUBA, and camping. Reading has always been a big part of my life. I used to read to my daughter every night and we still read together on occasion. I enjoy exploring all the world has to offer and particularly find biology fascinating. Cooking and baking can be really fun as well. Being healthy is important to me. I a not a preacher of health, but I want to live my life to my best ability and always grow as a person.

I have a NM License, am CPR/first aid certified, and can supply my resume if desired. I know that picking who cares for your children is a really important decision and I would be happy to answer any questions you might have.

Thank you for considering this offer and for taking the time to read this message. I greatly appreciate it.

Thanks.
Skye Norton

A very special member of my family has MS. Over the years I have helped with her care on occasion. This has included companionship, cleaning, meal preparation, shopping, assistance with mobility, walker and then a wheel chair, and with some personal hygiene tasks. I remember feeling that she did not have access to enough support resources and this was a difficult reality for me to accept. When we would visit together, I felt there was a woman there who few really knew.

My training is in mental health and I have predominately worked with adult's with substance dependence and with children with pervasive developmental disorders. I find meaning in helping others and believe that being of service is of the utmost importance in this life. I enjoy taking care of people. Although the process of cleaning isn't really "fun" the results are rewarding and I love to cook/bake.

My daughter is grown and I find myself wishing I could continue in the role of a caretaker. I hope to nurture truly genuine and caring relationships within both my work and my home.
