  About Me

My name is Meghan. I am an experienced babysitter of 7 years. I have babysat for many different families with children of all different ages ranging from infants to teenagers. I have worked with many children with special needs such as Autism, Rett Syndrome, Down Syndrome, ADHD, OCD and emotional/behavioral issues. I am a sophomore at Wheelock College and my major is Human Development and Special Education. I currently am a team leader at an Americorps program called Jumpstart. This entails working with a network of volunteers who provide individualized attention and positive adult-child relationships to prepare children attending preschool in low-income neighborhoods for school success. I have received intensive training and professional development in early childhood theory and practice, language and literacy development, leadership skills, and communication with families. I also have been a part of the Best Buddies organization for four years now which involves being paired with a special needs child or adult and forming a positive relationship. I am very active and love to keep the children I work with as engaged as possible. I also love to organize.

  Work Experience & Education Background

0 years experience, 2 references
I provided assistance to a teacher with MS for a year through a community service program. This entailed helping her around the classroom with physically demanding tasks such as lifting, organizing, and cleaning. I helped care for my grandmother for a year who was terminally ill with cancer. This involved meal preparation, some basic washing and cleaning, medicine, and spending time with her. I also am a part of the best buddies organization where I am paired with a special needs adult. She is nonverbal. This entails weekly contact usually through letters and spending time together once or twice a month.
